We have an exciting opportunity for an early career Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Leeds. Your role

As a Civil Engineer, you will:
• Work on civil and structural engineering projects, especially in river and flood risk management.
• Participate in scheme appraisals, concept design, and detailed design on environmental improvement and engineering projects.
• Engage in traditional consultancy as well as design/build work to broaden your experience.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the success of projects and helping to make a real impact.

The team member we’re looking for

We are looking for an individual who:

• Has 2-4 years of consultancy experience in the UK, with knowledge of reinforced concrete, geotechnical, or hydraulic design - however, we welcome applications from individuals with different but relevant expertise.

Qualifications

• Has a degree in civil and/or structural engineering or has equivalent experience.
• Is working towards or interested in professional membership of a recognised institution. JBA has an approved training scheme with the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management and can support you on your journey to Chartership.

Essential attributes for the role

• Communicates effectively, both in writing and verbally, and enjoys problem solving.
• Values teamwork and is excited about working with different disciplines to deliver successful projects.

Desirable attributes for the role

• Knowledge and/or application of NEC3/4 contracts
• Working in an Office 365 environment, including the use of SharePoint
• Knowledge of hydraulic modelling to support the engineering design of flood risk management schemes

The role will be located in our Leeds city centre office on the 1st floor of Bank House. Occupying an incredible city centre location, our modern and contemporary office is only a short walk away from the main transport networks, including the nearest EV charging facilities, and is well connected by local and regional bus routes. With plenty of free parking surrounding the building, and a place to store bicycles, this makes it easily accessible for those travelling by road or bike.
