The Role

We are looking for a senior flood, climate and disaster risk management specialist to join our growing international development and humanitarian teams, working on projects that make a difference in South-East Asia and the Pacific regions. Our clients include the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Pacific Community (SPC), Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC), Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and many other International Financial Institutions, UN Agencies and humanitarian organisations.

Your role
Our work is at the forefront of building sustainable community resilience through strategies that address the whole lifecycle of disasters. This involves:
· Hazard and risk assessment
· The design of resilience strategies that couple structural, non-structural and nature-based solutions
· Flood forecasting, early warning and anticipatory action
· Emergency preparedness and response
· Disaster risk financing and insurance
· Capacity building and stakeholder engagement
· Rapid recovery.
The team member we’re looking for
We need someone who is passionate, well organised and flexible. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a proactive, entrepreneurial approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities for business development and organizational growth within the ID&H sector. Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently tackle complex challenges, develop viable solutions, and make decisive, well-informed decisions is important. Significant experience in the international development and/or humanitarian sectors is required. Ability to travel internationally for short periods (1-2 week missions) is essential.
Ideally, we are looking for candidates to be based in and with legal right to work in either Singapore or Australia. Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have a Degree and a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in a related geoscience or engineering field, in international development or similar.
Essential attributes for the role
We are looking for someone who can:
· Lead business development and client engagement activities for the International Development and Humanitarian (ID&H) work in the APAC region
· Lead bidding for ID&H projects in the APAC region
· Act as Project Manager on awarded assignments, liaising with clients, national governments and stakeholders
· Manage large and diverse project teams and consortiums across different time zones
· Manage large projects to tight budgets and programmes
· Oversee work and quality control (for the themes introduced above)
· Work as a team and mentor and manage less experienced staff.
