The Climate and Sustainability team are looking for a new member of the team to be based either in the Saltaire office or at another JBA office with occasional travel to Saltaire. As a team we work across several disciplines both as individuals and as a team: decarbonisation, climate change adaptation and resilience, natural capital and ecosystem services, catchment resilience, and social value.

Your role

You will be involved in helping shape JBA’s decarbonisation services strategy and will work within several teams including decarbonisation analysts, engineers, and decarbonisation policy specialists.

You will play a leading role in developing business using your background knowledge and contacts, while being supported by senior members of our team to gain a fast appreciation of JBA’s portfolio of decarbonisation and net zero services and experience.

You will be a commercially aware and purpose-driven individual that can provide specialist advice in the field of decarbonisation and net zero strategies. You will have the ability to co-ordinate and manage delivery of a range of diverse projects.

Key tasks include:
• Act as a key internal and external specialist to provide technical guidance in the field of decarbonisation and net zero strategies and implementation plans.
• Use your technical knowledge to lead projects to understand the baseline and future risks/opportunities to decarbonisation, climate change adaptation, natural assets and communities.
• Providing leadership and work closely with our existing team to develop current opportunities, identify and gain new opportunities and to manage and coordinate the delivery of projects across the UK.
• Keep up to date with best practice techniques and applicability of tools to assess decarbonisation and net zero strategies.
• Use your understanding of decarbonisation and net zero policy, strategy, action and engagement to provide specialist guidance and advice to support private clients and government organisations.
• Help shape and manage client relationships and business development on decarbonisation and net zero across a range of markets.
• Input into the development of new JBA tools and techniques to assist with decarbonisation and net zero work.
• Communicating internally and externally on decarbonisation and net zero services and projects to a range of diverse audiences, including conferences.

The team member we’re looking for

The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously across related discipline areas, building a network across the wider business to help them lead a range of teams developing novel yet robust responses to opportunities. You will be naturally collaborative in how you work.

Qualifications

Bachelors and/or Masters degrees (or equivalent) in relevant subjects e.g. sustainability consultancy, environmental science, carbon management and accounting.

Chartered status is important to JBA and valued by our clients. Applicants should be Chartered.

Essential attributes for the role

• Experience of undertaking carbon analyses to guide decision-making.
• Experience of designing and delivering stakeholder engagement and workshops.
• Expertise and demonstrable experience in delivering effective decarbonisation actions.
• Ability to communicate the relevance of climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
• Ability to develop and apply frameworks for evaluating outcomes and benefits

Desirable attributes for the role

• Ability to apply the UN Sustainable Development Goals across different sectors.
• Ability to put circular economy principles into practice.
• Membership of IEMA, or similar.
