We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to help lead the delivery of work in this growing area of our environmental consultancy. The role will suit a driven individual that can provide specialist advice in the field of climate risk analysis and climate resilience and can co-ordinate and manage delivery of a range of diverse projects.

Your role

You will play a leading role in the delivery of projects using your background knowledge and experience, while being supported by senior members of our team to gain a fast appreciation of JBA’s portfolio of climate-related services.
You will be involved in helping shape JBA’s climate services strategy and work within a team comprising climate risk analysts, climate scientists, climate change policy specialists, and leaders in applying climate science on national and international projects.
This team carries out work for a wide range of UK and international clients and works collaboratively with wider JBA disciplines such as international development, catchment resilience and natural capital.

The team member we’re looking for

The successful candidate will have a positive and professional attitude and be naturally collaborative in how you work. The role will be client facing and confidence in working with clients in relation to project delivery is essential. You will be able to delegate tasks to junior colleagues to promote staff development and provide project efficiencies.
It is expected that the role will involve a significant degree of cross office working. JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work, however it is important to us that you attend the office on a regular basis.

Qualifications

Academic qualification(s) in relevant field(s) such as a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a subject such as Environmental Science, Meteorology or Environmental Engineering.

Chartered status (e.g. CIWEM) is important to JBA and valued by our clients. Applicants should be Chartered or be able to demonstrate their commitment towards becoming Chartered with an appropriate professional body.

Essential attributes for the role

• Experience in and a proven track record in the field of climate risk analysis and/or climate adaptation and technical leadership of projects.
• An understanding and experience of improving societal resilience to climate change risks.
• Efficient communication skills with an ability to deliver clear, impactful reports and confidence in presenting proposal/ project findings to influence relevant parties.
• Ability to develop and manage effective relationships and partnerships internally and externally with a track record of working collaboratively and delivering high quality reports.
• A good understanding of UKCP18 projections and other global projections and climate hazard data.
• An understanding of the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA3/4), National Adaptation Planning and other global frameworks.

Desirable attributes for the role

• Experience of supporting public and private sector clients with:
• Climate (and nature) reporting requirements e.g. key ESG standards and frameworks and latest developments in the ESG and sustainable finance space, including ISSB IFRS, CSRD/EU Omnibus, UK SRS and/or EU Taxonomy.
• Enterprise Risk Management including practices, and policies to analyse and report enterprise risks, to manage risks according to an enterprise risk management framework, and compliance with applicable regulations.

This one-of-a-kind work setting embraces Saltaire’s industrial past, boasts excellent transport links to and from the nearby cities of Leeds and Bradford and includes ample free parking and bike storage facilities. As well as being home to modern office facilities, the former textile mill is now also a hub for shops, cafés, restaurants, and galleries.
