The Role
Our graduate scheme is a two-year development programme designed to help you build the professional skills, technical expertise and confidence needed for a successful career at JBA.
Supported by our dedicated Graduate Scheme Coordinator, you'll follow a structured development journey centred around a core set of professional competencies. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to explore different areas of our work and develop expertise in one or more technical specialisms, supported by rotations, project opportunities and collaboration across our multidisciplinary teams.

Your role
As a graduate at JBA, you'll contribute to innovative, integrated and sustainable projects from the very beginning. Whether we're helping communities prepare for flooding, supporting sustainable water management, developing digital tools or improving environmental resilience, you'll contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.
No two days are the same. You'll apply the knowledge and skills you've developed through your studies while continuing to build new capabilities, explore different areas of interest and develop your professional expertise.
You'll be supported by industry-leading experts, gain access to a wide range of training opportunities and become part of a collaborative graduate community. From the outset, you'll contribute to meaningful projects that help communities, businesses and the environment adapt and thrive in the face of a changing climate.

Water Management & Geoscience: Flood risk, hydrology, hydraulic and coastal modelling, climate resilience, policy and evidence
Engineering: Civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fluvial and coastal engineering, asset management and infrastructure delivery
Environment: EIA, Landscape, Hydrogeology, Environmental Management & Compliance
Data Science: Statistics, machine learning, AI, analytics and modelling
Software Development: Software development, digital products, applications and systems
The team member we’re looking for
We're looking for graduates who are curious, collaborative and eager to learn.
You'll have:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
An interest in tackling environmental, climate and societal challenges through technical excellence and innovation.
The ability to work independently with appropriate support, as well as contribute positively within a team.
A willingness to learn from feedback and reflect on your work to ensure it meets quality and project requirements.
Confidence and flexibility to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor or remote locations where required by the role.
Qualifications
An awarded bachelor's degree, master's degree or other equivalent qualification relevant to the pathway you are applying for.
We welcome applicants from a range of academic backgrounds. Examples include engineering, environmental sciences, geography, mathematics, statistics, computer science, software engineering or and other related subjects.
Applicants should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a 2:1 degree classification or above (or equivalent qualification).
One or more A Levels (or equivalent qualifications) in a STEM subject.
Essential attributes for the role
The right to work in the UK by the first day of employment.
Desirable attributes for the role
A postgraduate qualification (such as a master's degree or PGCert) in a relevant discipline.
Relevant work experience gained through internships, industrial placements, part-time employment, volunteering or other practical experiences.
